33. Drawing, Designing, and Making Decisions

After several weeks of Ramie drawing, erasing, drawing some more, googling for examples, and designing our future house, he was finally satisfied with the options that we had. via GIPHY We went through probably 30 drawings that he had made, some of them very similar to each other, and got it narrowed down to 10 that we thought were good. Well, even though we got it narrowed down, we can’t just give 10 drawings to an architect, they wouldn’t know which layout we actually wanted designed. At this point, we had to narrow it down even more, so Ramie handed me the stack of 10 and told me to pick my favorite. I looked through them all, and since I’m kind of indecisive anyway, I couldn’t pick a favorite. He then asked me to put them in order 1-10 with 1 being my favorite. Fine, I’ll try, but why do I have to be the one to pick?! 1. Welcome to our new life

This blog is mostly written by me, I’m Dana (the brains), with some guest appearances from my husband Ramie (the bruan). Breeze is our 9 year old black lab who we were lucky to be able to bring with us on this adventure. Its intent is to let our very curious family and friends know what is going on in our lives now that we have moved to Costa Rica. If you are not one of these family members or friends, don’t worry, you are more then welcome to read about our adventures as well. Please know, however, that this is not a guide on how to move to Costa Rica, or even what to expect when you move to Costa Rica, this is simply just OUR experiences. Also, please know that I am not a professional writer, editor, or anything of the sort and this is the first blog I’ve ever posted. 172. Merry Christmas 🎄 Happy New Year 🎆

Holly Logan Santa GIF from Holly Logan GIFs Monday 12/23- It’s the most wonderful time of the year… Well, around here we were pretty excited because recently we had ordered some things online to be delivered to us, and today Randall picked the packages up from San Isidro and delivered them to us this evening. Thank you Santa Randall. It was Christmas morning for us right now! We wouldn't be waiting to open them. There were several packages of different things, some of which we had kind of forgotten about. The one that I was most excited for were speaking buttons for Skye. These are small buttons that you can record your own words, in your own voice, and teach your dog to press the buttons to talk to you. I’ve seen videos on Instagram showing dogs that learn dozens of words and can tap out thoughts to tell their owner. I think Skye is definitely smart enough to learn this, the question is, will she be too afraid of the buttons to press them? We will soon...

177. The New Arrivals

Eminem Hey GIF from Eminem GIFs Wednesday 3/19- You may remember a few blog posts ago that Karen and Dennis were getting ready to ship pallets down here in anticipation of their move, and they offered us some space on their pallets to send down some things that we might not otherwise be able to get here due to size or weight. Late last week they found out that the pallets had arrived in Costa Rica and were getting ready to be released from the port. Originally Karen & Dennis were told that the pallets would be delivered to Uvita, and the price that they would pay for the full shipment reflected that, but when they were informed that the pallets were here, the company also told them that they didn’t actually have a way to transport the pallets from San Jose to Uvita. 162. Puppy Care and Technology Problems

Doggies Puppies GIF from Doggies GIFs Saturday 8/24- It’s time for Spring Cleaning. Ok, well, it isn’t really Spring here, in fact, this time of year is probably actually more like winter because it's the rainy season, but regardless of the season, it's a chore day. With all of the work Ramie has done recently to install the wiring and components for the new solar system that we’re setting up, the house has gotten very dusty and dirty, I can feel it on the floors when I walk through so I did a much more thorough sweep of the whole house than I have in a long time. At some point in the near future we will have the cleaners come to do a deep clean, but before that happens I need to get the main dirt off the floor so walking through the house doesn’t drive me crazy (I hate the feeling of walking on a dirty floor!).
